Parent Carer Links

Improving communication across the whole school community

As well as regular newsletters, important dates in advance, texts and emails to parents, we have parent/carer links (PCLs) attached to each class. Parent/carer links from each year group meet termly, with members of the senior leadership team, to support the work of school staff.

The purpose of these PCL meetings is:

  • to support school improvement;
  • to be a means of communication between the school and our parent/carer community;
  • to be a positive forum, one that celebrates the work of the school whilst discussing next steps and ways forward;
  • to increase parent/carer involvement;
  • to help foster positive links between PCLs and the PTFA.

PCL meetings are not a forum:

  • through which to air individual concerns;
  • through which to criticise the school or the work of school staff.

Concerns relating to either of the above should be raised directly with class teachers, year group leaders or a member of the senior leadership team*.

If a parent/carer contacts a parent/carer link with an individual worry or concern, they should be reminded to follow the procedure above and parent/carer links should not agree to handle matters on their behalf.

If you would like to make contact with the PCL for your child's class, please contact the school office and a member of the team will forward your details to the relevant person.

*A separate complaints policy is published on the website - Information - Statutory Information - Complaints Policy.
