Art & Design

Art Doc

Coordinator: Ms Cleaver.

Our art and design curriculum at Stanford Junior School is centred on engaging children’s imaginations and valuing originality. Art and design gives pupils the skills, concepts and knowledge necessary for them to express their responses to ideas and experiences. We are keen to ensure that each child’s talents are fostered in a variety of mediums linked to their current topic as well as studying well known artists.

Children will work together to explore a range of materials and techniques as well as learning about the world of art and design and recognising the achievements of artists and designers from different cultures and times.

Through the curriculum, children will increasingly develop critical thinking, regularly considering and evaluating their own and others’ ideas and pieces, and explore how art can be used to express ideas, values, attitudes and feelings.
